Toenail Removal Diary: 5-5-00: Had 2 toenails removed, large toe on right due to
fungus that would not respond to two treatments of Lamisil and toe next to it for ingrown nail.
5-19-00: Toes constantly exudating and painful. Had to change dressing constantly, soak in salt water.
6-5-00: Saw doctor who said not to cover the toenails as that kept the wound wet and stopped healing. I was in a
quandary because they started hurting again when I went by his instructions.
6-7-00: Got disgusted about the situation, did a web search using the search phrase "toenail removal" and Toe-Aid was
first on the list. Checked it out. Was in awe of the details on Southwest's web site and immediately called them up.
Extremely helpful, Heather guided me to the closest supplier (Mercy Surgical Dressing Group, Inc., Cannonsburg, Pa.).
She said she would send me a sample, but I ordered two packages of Toe-Aid from Mercy right after. Extremely hopeful.
6-9-00: Received package from Mercy and applied Toe-Aid. Immediately felt better and could actually put on some soft
shoes (feet were freezing!!). Ahhhhhh what relief.
6-12-00: The bandage looked pretty dirty and yucky. Took it off; toes looked SO much better, I couldn't believe it.
Only problem is that the tape doesn't fit the way I would like and it's white; would like to have a flesh-colored tape so I
can wear sandals. Therefore, I'm thinking of calling Mercy again to see if they sell Elasto-gel separately so I can use my
own tape.
6-16-00: Received the tape and Elasto-gel. Very Nice! Also decided to apply Elasto-gel to the left big toe which is
less involved with nail fungus to see what happens (it's been there for 3 years and after trying 2 courses of pills, still
there).
6-19-00: Checked the nails, they look nice and healthy.
6-23-00: Decided to see if I could "dry" the nails out and have a scab form.
6-24-00: Lots of pain; the smaller toe next to the big toe is looking OK but the big toe is hard, cracked and oozing
all kinds of disgusting stuff.
6-25-00: Put the Elasto-gel back on the big toe, as it hurt too much. The small toe has formed a scab and no longer
hurts.
7-6-00: Tried to dry out the big toenail again; seems to be getting better but still leaked yucky stuff. Put the
Elasto-gel on again and will try again this weekend. The toenail with the fungus is not looking a lot better but that is to
be expected. I will be patient with that.
7-15-00: Tried to dry out the big toenail again; getting better but still leaking stuff. Toenail with fungus is looking
real good.
7-17-00: Put back the Toe-Aid because the toenail still leaking stuff and hurting too.
7-19-00: Got the bandage wet and had to change ; the toenail (actually I should say toenail bed, as there is no toenail!!)
is looking better. And it doesn't hurt.
7-21-00: Will try to dry it out this weekend. Other toenail with fungus looking better and better!
7-24-00: Success at last! The toenail bed did not leak any yucky stuff, so I am deeming this the end of the Toe-Aid.
Also, the fungus toenail on the left is looking really good, so I'm going to go Toe-Aid-less and see what the nail looks
like as it grows out. Before, it looked better but the fungus gradually crept back down the nail. But there is a good portion
now from the bottom that looks fungus-free, so we shall see if it grow out well. Thanks to Heather, Rex and Cindy at Southwest
Technologies. If I have time, I am going to take some of the samples of Toe-Aid I have left and see if my foot doctor has
heard of them and let him see them. This has made my "toenail removal odyssey" a much more pleasant experience than I'm
sure it would have been. YEAH!!

Diabetic Ulcer:
I want to thank you very much for sending me the Elasto-Gel dressings. I got your number off the package and glad that I called you.
My friend had a small opening wound on the side of his foot and I had been cleaning and doctoring it every night with a popular ointment for three months. It just was not healing and him being diabetic we were concerned. On June 1, 2000 we we saw a doctor at the VA Hospital in Durham, NC and were introduced to the Elasto-Gel dressings. Honestly, by the third day the wound was healing remarkably. Jim and I said Elasto-Gel is a MIRACLE PATCH. I wish I had taken a picture of the wound on his foot prior to starting Elasto-Gel and afterwards to send you; sending you a picture now would not prove anything.
Just a note about myself. I have a heel spur which I wear little round cushions on it. After we knew Jims' foot was cured, I used one and it felt wonderful, however, since you can't shower with it on, I have not used anymore. I want to save them for Jim should he need them. (I hope he won't)
Thank you again for the Elasto-Gel dressings. I would recommend them to anyone that has a wound that needs attention. I apologize for not responding earlier, however, there were some things going on that delayed my response.

Diabetic Ulcer: (Possible Amputation)
Just a few short weeks ago I began a journey with my father now 67 years old. My father is a diabetic and has a history of foot related problems not all related to his disease but all equally dangerous.
3/15 - My father lost his entire toenail on his big toe on his right foot. The toe was red, extremely swollen and had some discharge.
3/16 - We went to see the physician only to be told that amputation of the toe could be a real possibility. My father was prescribed and initial round of oral antibiotics and advised to soak the foot. The physician gave us an explanation of the toe problem - a fungus that had damaged the toenails.
3/17 - I arrived at work only to find working impossible, so I began surfing the Internet and found a wound care link site that listed articles and new product information. I found a list of items that seemed interesting enough until I found the product page for Toe-Aid dressing. The second line of advertisement said it all "Helps eliminate fungus from under the toenail and other areas of the feet." I picked up the phone and called Southwest Technologies and found very friendly people on the other end of the phone. I learned a wealth of information in a few minutes and then realized my father and I were not alone with this type of fungus. During my phone conversation, I was convinced I needed this product for my father and fast. Southwest Technologies faxed info that day to me at the office to show me how to use their product and also gave the name of Stout Supply as the closest distributor for me.
3/18 - Saturday morning with the arrival of UPS I received my overnight package from Stout Supply and began using the Toe-Aid product.
3/23 - One week after the first physician visit and five days working with this product a noticeable improvement. Swelling reduced, slight improvement on color and infection starting to turn for the better.
3/30 - Two weeks after first physician visit and twelve days working with product shows enough improvement to get the attention of our physician. Infection reduced, color improvement is dramatic and swelling is gone. The physician does not need to see us next week, we can skip a week. We don't even mention the word amputation of the toe during this visit.
3/31 - Placed additional product order from Stout to continue the progress.
4/30 - Last physician visit and twenty-six days working with the product. The toe looks practically normal again (except for the missing toenail). The physician says he does not need to see us anymore on this issue. I am convinced that I found this product with a little prayer and luck. I am also convinced that this product, informative people, and prompt distribution allowed my father to heal his toe and possibly change the future course of action we might have been forced to follow.
